May 14th, 2010 was another amazing day! It started out with introducing the girls and our WISH CHILD CHARLA. Then it was time for National Anthem by Andrea & Olivia and prayer with Brian Correll. We had 24 teams sign up to play, which was more than we expected! We ended up having to change the tournament from a double elimination to a Round Robin format where each team played two games and then the top two winning teams with the most runs scored would play in a Championship game. The Wild Stallions and Reid Team ended up in the final game that ended with the Wild Stallions winning it 12-7. The winning team got their team name placed on a plaque that will hang in the Make A Wish office for the year and each player recieved a tournment shirt with the back saying “WE GAVE BACK AND WE WON!”
It was fun watching teams who were very serious and others who were just there to have fun! Our own Riley nurses sacrificed themselves for the great cause. They were great sports and it was so nice to laugh with all of them outside the infusion room 😉 Grace even took her turn at the plate with most of the teams and it was obvious she was the MVP for homeruns!
We had a great silent auction that was fun watching people battle it out to the last minute. The girls also went around selling raffle tickets for “Split the Pot” We had two winners with one of them giving the money right back! We also sold t shirts that were designed by a 4th grader at Danville with went very quickly! Maeci enjoyed selling the tickets and announcing winners!
We want to say thank you to the sponsors, the volunteers, the players, those who donated and Avon Softball Park. But most of all we thank you for all of your support for our families and for all your love and prayers!
We are pleased to say that Charla will be going on her Wish Trip after she receives a heart transplant, thanks to all of you! Please keep Charla in your prayers that she will receive a heart soon!
We hope that you will all continue to praise God for Maeci’s healing and pray for Grace as she continues her treatments. The girls were very excited about the softball tournament turnout and plan on doing it again next year!!! Hope to see you all next year!
